The angry soccer parent

Science Daily reported on a study by a kinesiology student at the University of Maryland indicating that the mechanisms of "sideline rage" are similar to those found in drivers with road rage. The researcher found that control-oriented parents are more likely to take events in the game as being personally directed against themselves or their child. That's when they get angry. The more autonomy-oriented parents also got angry, but took longer to get there and were better able to control it.
