Relationships and Body Shame

The June 2008 issue of Social Psychology includes a study concerning men and women whose self-esteem is linked to being in a relationship. Relationship contingency - when self-esteem is derived from romantic relationships - was tied to shame about appearance for both men and women. Personal body shame predicted greater concern about the appearance of one's mate. You can read more here.
