GLB teens face higher pregnancy risk
CTV.ca reported on a recent study suggesting that gay, lesbian, and bisexual (GLB) teens may be more likely to become pregnant or to cause a pregnancy than their heterosexual peers. Surveys indicate that, in general, risky sexual activity has declined for all youth, but GLB teens started at a much higher level than heterosexual youth, and the gap remains. The authors speculate that the discrimination, harassment, and sexual abuse experienced by GLB youth may be linked to an increase in high-risk behaviour. Despite their identification with a homosexual identity, GLB teens engage in heterosexual intercourse; it was hypothesized that this behaviour may be a "camouflage" or an attempt to "cure" their homosexuality. For others, it may be related to curiosity. You can read more here.
