Kids Preschool Eating Habits Determine Likelyhood of Obesity as Teens

New research out of England that is to be published in the journal Paediatrics, indicates that you can predict whether or not your child will be obese as a teenager by knowing their weight at age 5. These finding suggest that the focus on school aged children’s television viewing, computer use, school meals and physical education may not be as relevant as their pre-school eating habits. The study also compared children today to a group of kids studied 25 years ago and found that there were higher rates of obesity now. The researchers speculate that increased calorie and portion sizes could be to blame. They also state that one in four pre-school aged children in England are overweight.
